About

I am writer, mediator, attorney, volunteer, depending on the day. First and foremost, though, I am the mother of two great kids, two teenagers, not yet fully launched.

As I find myself in the middle, transitional, period of my life, I continue to find great joy — and challenge — in raising my children. Have generations before ever experienced more disconnect than felt between those born into the world of social media and the internet and those that knew the world without? We live longer, but now become dinosaurs in the middle — early in the middle, when we’ve only just started to get things right. We feel compelled to reinvent ourselves using tools that morph before we’ve had the slightest chance to understand them. There is a certain freedom, though, when you know you’re already too far behind ever to catch up. Maybe that’s why I enjoy my siblings so much again – five of them, all over 45, obsolete, as well, to a more or less degree. Still, there are roles we have to play. Currently we are the filling in the sandwich that is our extended Italian-Irish-American family. Family life, shifting parts, un-named conflict are sources and inspiration for my stories. My writing also speaks to experiences of stuckness; unexpected moments of clarity; and taking first steps, no matter one’s age.

I continue to earn recognition for my work. A collection of three stories was recently awarded runner-up in Minerva Rising’s chap book contest and the Editors had these nice things to say: “Your stories are well written and moving;” and ; “the collection is so powerful… [They] need to be in the world for others to read.” Three Day Wind was recently included for publication in a best-selling anthology of women writers called “Aspiring to Inspire.” You can find it on amazon.com.

Please read and enjoy my stories. I hope they speak to you.
